Flux nodes are the backbone of the Flux decentralized cloud computing network. Unlike traditional master nodes focused on transaction validation, Flux nodes provide critical resources like storage and processing power for a variety of decentralized applications. These nodes come in three tiers, each offering distinct functionalities and earning potential.

Flux Node Types and Responsibilities:

• Cumulus Node: The entry point for the network, ideal for those starting out. Cumulus nodes contribute to the network's foundation by offering basic storage and processing capabilities.

• Nimbus Node: A step up from Cumulus, Nimbus nodes boast increased power and functionality. They handle more complex tasks within the Flux network, requiring a higher collateral commitment (locked FLUX tokens).

• Stratus Node: The top tier, Stratus nodes are the network's powerhouses. They offer the most resources, enabling them to tackle demanding applications and earn the highest rewards.

Hardware Requirements:

• Minimum (all node types):

  • CPU: 2 cores, 4 threads
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Storage: 220 GB SSD/NVMe (Solid State Drive/Non-Volatile Memory express)
  • Disk Write Speed (DWS): 180 Mb/s
  • Internet: 25 Mbps down/up

• Recommended (increases with node tier):

  • CPU: Consider higher core counts (e.g., 4 cores, 8 threads or more with high Ghz/core rate, 3GHz+ ) for Nimbus and Stratus nodes for better performance.
  • RAM: More RAM is beneficial for all node types, especially Nimbus and Stratus (e.g., 16 GB or more).
  • Internet: Faster speeds (e.g., 100 Mbps down/up and more) are recommended for Nimbus and Stratus for optimal performance.

Hardware for Smooth Operation:

While the minimum requirements will get your node running, here's what truly matters for a smooth Flux node experience:

• Storage Type: Solid-state drives (SSDs) are crucial for fast disk write speeds (DWS) essential for node performance. Bacloud recommends using NVMe drives, as following our performed tests, NVME drives are 5x faster than traditional SSD drives. Avoid traditional HDDs. 
• Reliable Internet: A consistent and stable Internet connection is vital to ensure your node stays online and operational.
• Up-to-date Hardware: Using newer hardware helps maintain efficiency and reduces the risk of compatibility issues.
